Connecting your printer wirelessly should be effortless. The Epson Smart Panel app introduces a revolutionary conversational setup wizard that handles Wi-Fi pairing, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) printer discovery, and network handshake in minutes—without touching a desktop computer.
Prerequisites Before Setup
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Network: Epson consumer printers require a standard 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n wireless frequency. If your router has a combined 5 GHz / 2.4 GHz SSID (band steering), temporarily separate the bands or connect your phone to the 2.4 GHz channel.
- Smartphone Permissions: Ensure Bluetooth and Local Network Permissions (iOS 14+) are enabled for Epson Smart Panel.

Method 1: Standard Infrastructure Wi-Fi Connection (Recommended)
This is the preferred setup for home and office environments where all devices share a local router.
- Download and Launch the App: Install Epson Smart Panel on your iOS device via the App Store or Android device via Google Play.
- Power On the Printer: Verify the power LED is steady. If the printer has an LCD screen, ensure it shows the home screen.
- Tap the (+) Add Printer Button: On the top-right corner of the Smart Panel dashboard, tap the plus icon.
- Follow the Conversational Chatbot: Smart Panel initiates a chat-style setup assistant. Tap "Start Setup" to transmit your smartphone's active Wi-Fi credentials to the printer securely via Bluetooth.
- Complete Ink & Print Head Alignment: If prompted, perform test prints to verify printhead nozzles are aligned.
Method 2: Wi-Fi Direct Connection (Without a Router)
If you are traveling, working in an off-grid location, or cannot access your router password, Wi-Fi Direct lets your phone talk directly to the printer:
- On the printer control panel, navigate to Settings > Network Settings > Wi-Fi Setup > Wi-Fi Direct.
- Select Connection Setup and note the displayed SSID (DIRECT-...) and network password.

Pro-Tip: Router AP Isolation
If your router has "AP Isolation" or "Guest Network Isolation" turned on, wireless devices cannot see each other even on the same SSID. Turn off AP Isolation in your router admin console (192.168.1.1) to allow your phone to locate the printer.
